EUROPE!!!! 10.10-10.17.10

So I am sure everyone knows now that I went to Europe for my 30th Birthday! It was an amazing trip! We flew into Barcelona's airport on the 10th. We had a 4 hour bus tour before we got our boat, so we were driven around Barcelona, saw the last arena where they still have bull fighting, the Olympic stadium, and the Cathedral de Familia. It was raining, so we couldn't get out of the bus much. Then we were taken to our boat, Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas. Gorgeous boat! 15 decks, a rock climbing wall, a spa, basketball courts, mini golf, an ice skating rink, and so much more! We spent every night at the La Scala theatre seeing such performances such as Gary Lovini, extraordinary violinist, Beatlemaniacs, a Beatle-mania type band, and Royal Caribbean's own talented performers do Broadway songs and other performances. There was a Johnny Rockets on board also, which had amazing milkshakes. Monday was a day at sea, so we relaxed. Tuesday we were in Naples/Sorrento and Pompeii. We saw the ruins of Pompeii complete with the preserved bodies, and we got to see an olive oil factory and sample mozzerella cheese in Sorrento, and we got to shop. I loved Sorrento! Wednesday was a big day, we went to Rome, we went to the Colosseum and the Vatican, and saw the Sistine Chapel. Both days were very fun and educational. Thursday we went to Florence and got to see art. We saw the Statue of David at the Accademia museum, and the Ponte Vecchio bridge. I think Florence was my favorite day! Friday we went to the French Riviera, and Nice. We didn't like Nice much, but we loved relaxing on the beach and walking along the French Riviera! It was a nice relaxing day! Saturday we went to Marseilles, and the Notre Dame de la Guard Cathedral. Pretty church, historical as it was shot at in WWII at the battle at Marseilles, but it was FREEZING at the top!!! We went shopping after, and I had the worst experience with a cashier who was slow as molasses, and refused to switch to English to speak to me. I ended up not giving her my money. And then it was back to Barcelona to go home. France had gone on strike, so we ended up taking a flight to Amsterdam and catching a flight direct from Boston there. Thank god we did that, we would have been stuck in Europe until Thursday! Didn't much like the Amsterdam(Schipol) Airport, the Dutch language goes right through me! But it was an amazing trip!!!
