NYC 9/25/10-American Idiot and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson

So Kristin, Hayley, and Kim and I boarded the MegaBus in Providence @ 630 Saturday morning to head to NYC to see American Idiot. When we were up there, we also snagged tickets for previews of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson(I am so glad they are theatre people and were willing to take a chance on the show! I was the only one who had remotely heard of it and had the soundtrack, so a million thanks to them for humoring me and taking a chance!) and we caught the box opening day of Elf, where they let us pck presents :) We all won Elf Dvd's! :) Hayley's friend Brian joined us for lunch at Tony's in Times Square. Tony's was awesome! We got two huge plates of pasta and paid $8 each! They had awesome caricatures on the walls of actors and certain Broadway shows, like Corbin Bleu in In The Heights and Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth in Promises, Promises!

American Idiot.
I love the music, and LOVED the fact that John Gallagher Jr was the lead character! I couldn't grasp the storyline well, and had to go back and read the synopsis again. Basically, the storyline is 3 almost 30 yr old guys decide they want to head out in the world and get away from what they know. One guy's gf gets pregnant so he stays behind. Another guy joins the military so the 3rd guy is by himself and discovers drugs. Turns out his "dealer" is really his alter ego. He realizes his life has been screwed up so he decides to come clean and go home. That's essentially the story, and it is set to Green Day's music. The set was amazing, HUGE and had tv's built into the walls and secret windows and doors.

Cast:
Johnny: John Gallagher Jr
Will: Michael Esper
Tunny: Stark Sands
Heather: Mary Faber
Whatshername: Rebecca Naomi Jones
St.Jimmy: Tony Vincent
The Extraordinary Girl: Christina Sajous

The cast was great, I love John Gallagher Jr! Michael Esper and Stark Sands were amazing(And really nice! We met them at stage door!) And Tony Vincent was incredible! Rebecca Naomi Jones has an amazing voice and I can't wait to see her in future shows!
Mary Faber also has a pretty voice, I have seen her in Avenue Q. Christina Sajous did this wonderful aerial dance for a fantasy scene with Stark Sands that was just jaw dropping. I enjoyed the show, but I wouldn't put it in my top ten.

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.
First, I want to say that I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!! I liked everything about it, the humor, the music, the lyrics, the set, the acting. I was really excited about this show! We didn't get to stage door because we had to run for the bus sadly! Synopsis: The life of Andrew Jackson, 7th President of the United States. That's pretty much you need to know! It is done very humorously!

There was no one in the cast that I had seen before, but everyone was very talented! I look forward to seeing them in future shows!

We also stage doored for Next To Normal, and I got pics with Adam Chanler-Berat, Louis Hobson, Emma Hunton, Marin Mazzie, and Jeff Danieley. :)

Finally, we ate at Jekyll and Hyde's Club. It was a unique, fun restaurant with various horror movie elements spread amongst four floors!
We returned home around 2 am. Very fun day! Can't wait to go back!
